# Improve conversions

> Turn meaningful AI Experience engagement into better-informed human conversations and business opportunities.

An Agentsy AI Experience can help visitors explore your expertise before contacting you. Improving conversions means making that journey clearer and more useful—not pressuring every visitor to book a meeting.

A conversion might be a completed registration, a meeting request, a contact inquiry, or another meaningful next step. Choose the outcome that fits your business.

## 1. Define what conversion means for your experience

Start with one primary outcome and, if helpful, one or two supporting outcomes.

| Outcome | What it can tell you |
| - | - |
| Visitor starts a conversation | The invitation to engage is compelling enough to try |
| Visitor registers | Someone is willing to identify themselves to continue, where registration is offered |
| Visitor requests a meeting | Someone has expressed interest in speaking with a person |
| Visitor submits a relevant inquiry | Someone has shared a potential need or opportunity |
| Visitor returns | The experience may be useful enough to revisit |

> [!NOTE]
>
> Registration and conversation volume do not, by themselves, establish lead quality or purchase intent.

## 2. Review the complete visitor journey

Consider each stage:

1. **Discovery:** Where does the visitor find your AI Experience?
2. **Expectation:** Does your landing page explain what they can accomplish?
3. **First interaction:** Is it easy to ask a useful question?
4. **Value:** Does the assistant provide relevant, accurate guidance?
5. **Next step:** Is the path to a human conversation clear when appropriate?

Look for friction before changing the assistant's instructions. For example, a weak headline may prevent conversations from starting, while an overly aggressive booking suggestion may interrupt otherwise useful conversations.

## 3. Make the first interaction valuable

Use a headline and welcome message that describe a concrete benefit.

**Less helpful:**

> Chat with our AI assistant.

**More helpful:**

> Explore which leadership challenges may be holding your team back. Ask a question to get started.

The assistant should respond to the visitor's actual question before collecting unnecessary details. Ask follow-up questions only when they improve the guidance.

For more ideas, see [Landing page content](/branding-and-website/landing-page-content) and [Design the conversation](/ai-experience-builder/design-the-conversation).

## 4. Match the next step to visitor intent

Different visitors need different responses.

| Visitor behavior | Appropriate approach |
| - | - |
| Asking general educational questions | Answer clearly and help them explore |
| Comparing approaches or services | Explain relevant differences and limitations |
| Describing a specific business problem | Clarify what matters and offer useful direction |
| Asking for pricing, availability, or implementation details you cannot verify | Explain the limitation and offer a relevant human contact |
| Explicitly asking to speak with someone | Direct them to the available booking or contact option |

> [!WARNING]
>
> Do not invent availability, pricing, inventory, appointments, or service commitments. When current or personalized information requires human review, explain that limitation.

The goal is a natural transition from exploration to a human conversation. See [Understanding user intent](/conversations-and-leads/understanding-user-intent) and [Human handoff](/conversations-and-leads/human-handoff).

## 5. Reduce unnecessary friction

Check whether visitors can:

* Understand the experience's purpose before starting.
* Find the conversation entry point on desktop and mobile.
* Understand when registration is required and why.
* Return to the main website without confusing authentication redirects.
* Find a booking or contact option when they want human help.
* Continue receiving useful answers after a handoff suggestion.

When guest access is enabled, consider whether visitors receive enough value to understand the experience before being asked to register. Access and registration behavior depend on your chosen configuration.

See [Guest chat and registration](/create-and-configure/guest-chat-and-registration) and [Mobile experience](/branding-and-website/mobile-experience).

## 6. Improve answer quality before optimizing calls to action

A polished CTA cannot compensate for unhelpful answers. Test whether your assistant:

* Uses relevant knowledge and explains uncertainty.
* Responds to the question rather than following a rigid script.
* Avoids repeating the same follow-up question.
* Recognizes requests outside its scope.
* Offers a human next step when it is genuinely useful.

If answers are weak, improve the underlying documents and system instructions before increasing promotional traffic.

See [Knowledge best practices](/knowledge-management/knowledge-best-practices) and [Troubleshoot AI responses](/knowledge-management/troubleshoot-responses).

## 7. Review signals, not just totals

Review the information available in your Agentsy workspace and any analytics you have configured. Depending on your setup, useful signals may include conversation starts, registrations, recurring questions, expressed needs, and meeting requests.

When comparing performance, keep definitions consistent. For example:

* **Registration rate:** registrations divided by the relevant visitor population, if both counts are available.
* **Meeting-request rate:** meeting requests divided by the relevant visitor population, if both counts are available.
* **Qualified opportunity rate:** opportunities meeting your own documented criteria divided by the relevant lead population.

These are illustrative metrics, not a claim that Agentsy automatically calculates or tracks every one of them. A booking button click also does not necessarily mean a meeting was completed.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Only use conversation and identity information in accordance with applicable privacy requirements, your notices, and your organization's access policies.

See [Measure engagement](/share-and-grow/measure-engagement) and [Conversation insights](/conversations-and-leads/conversation-insights).

## 8. Run small, measurable experiments

Change one important element at a time so you can understand its effect.

| Experiment | Question to investigate |
| - | - |
| Rewrite the landing page headline | Do more relevant visitors begin conversations? |
| Simplify the welcome message | Do visitors ask their first question more easily? |
| Improve a frequently requested knowledge topic | Do answers become more useful and accurate? |
| Refine human-handoff wording | Do interested visitors understand how to proceed? |
| Improve mobile CTA visibility | Can mobile visitors find the next step without friction? |

Document the original version, the change, the period reviewed, and what you learned. Avoid drawing conclusions from very small samples.

## Example: A business consultant

A consultant notices that visitors frequently ask how to identify operational bottlenecks, but few request a consultation.

Instead of making the assistant push meetings more often, the consultant:

1. Adds a clearer landing page promise: visitors can explore common bottlenecks.
2. Improves the knowledge base with a short diagnostic framework.
3. Updates the assistant to ask one relevant follow-up question when useful.
4. Offers a conversation with the consultant when visitors want to apply the framework to their organization.
5. Reviews whether the resulting inquiries are more relevant—not merely more numerous.

This approach connects conversion improvements to the value visitors receive.
