Message Usage and Limits

Every Agentsy subscription includes a message allowance. Understanding how your AI Experience uses that allowance helps you plan for visitor activity, avoid surprises, and choose a plan that fits your goals. This guide explains what to review in your account, how to estimate demand, and what to do as you approach your plan’s limit.
Your current subscription and billing information are the source of truth for your allowance, usage period, and any applicable limits. Plan details and available controls may change over time.

Understand the difference between visitors, conversations, and messages

These terms describe different parts of your AI Experience: For example, 20 visitors might each have a conversation with several exchanges. That can result in substantially more than 20 messages.
Do not assume that one conversation equals one message or that each exchange consumes exactly one unit. The precise counting rules, including whether assistant replies or other interactions count, should be confirmed against the usage information shown in your account or with Agentsy support.

Check your current usage

To review your allowance:
  1. Sign in to your Agentsy account.
  2. Open the billing, subscription, or usage area available to your account.
  3. Identify your current plan and its message allowance.
  4. Review any displayed consumption, remaining balance, and usage-period dates.
  5. If the information is unavailable or unclear, contact support before relying on an estimate.
The exact location and presentation of usage information may differ depending on your account configuration.
Check usage more frequently after launching a campaign, sharing your AI website with a large audience, or making your assistant available to a new group of users.

Estimate how many messages you may need

A simple planning model is: Expected conversations × average counted messages per conversation = estimated message usage Suppose you expect 100 conversations during a billing period and estimate 12 counted messages per conversation. Your planning estimate would be 1,200 messages. This is an illustrative calculation, not a guarantee of actual usage. Real consumption depends on visitor behavior and the message-counting rules that apply to your plan. Use these examples to model demand, not as typical or promised Agentsy usage rates.

What can increase message consumption?

Usage may grow when:
  • More people discover your AI website through social posts, newsletters, or partnerships.
  • Visitors ask follow-up questions instead of stopping after the first response.
  • Your assistant supports complex decisions that require several exchanges.
  • Returning visitors continue exploring new topics.
  • A promotion or event produces a temporary spike in activity.
Higher usage is not necessarily a problem. It may indicate that visitors find your expertise valuable. Review conversation quality and business outcomes alongside volume. For help interpreting engagement, see Measure Engagement.

What happens when you approach a limit?

The available behavior depends on your subscription and the current Agentsy billing rules. Depending on your configuration, you may need to change plans or contact support to understand how further usage is handled. Do not assume that extra messages are automatically billed, that usage rolls over, or that your assistant will continue responding beyond its allowance. Those conditions must be verified for your specific subscription. If you are nearing your allowance:
  1. Review your current usage and the dates of the applicable usage period.
  2. Estimate how much visitor activity you expect before that period ends.
  3. Check whether a higher plan better matches your needs.
  4. Confirm when any plan change would take effect and whether it changes your allowance immediately.
  5. Contact support if you need clarification about limits or service continuity.
Unused-message rollover, automatic overages, resets, and upgrade timing are plan-specific billing matters. Refer to the terms shown in your account rather than assuming a particular policy.

Choose a plan based on expected demand

When comparing plans, consider more than the headline allowance: For an overview of available subscriptions, see Plans and Free Trials.

Improve the experience without discouraging useful conversations

If usage is growing, focus on helping visitors reach useful answers efficiently rather than artificially limiting their questions.
  • Clarify your opening message. Help visitors understand what the assistant can do.
  • Improve knowledge coverage. Provide accurate, well-organized information on recurring topics.
  • Use helpful next steps. When a visitor is ready to speak with a person, make the human handoff clear.
  • Review repeated confusion. If visitors ask the same question several times, improve the underlying content or instructions.
  • Keep the experience focused. Make its purpose and boundaries easy to understand.

Troubleshooting usage questions

My message count is higher than expected

Check whether you were comparing messages with conversations or registered users. Review recent activity and confirm the counting rules associated with your subscription. If the difference remains unexplained, contact support with the relevant billing period and the usage figures displayed in your account.

I cannot find my usage information

Verify that you are signed in to the correct organization and have access to its billing or subscription information. If usage reporting is not visible, request assistance rather than assuming that no messages have been consumed.

I expect a sudden increase in visitors

Estimate demand using your previous conversation patterns, review the remaining allowance, and confirm your upgrade options before launching the promotion.

My assistant appears to have reached a limit

Check your plan status and usage information. Avoid changing unrelated AI settings until you have established whether the issue is usage-related. If the assistant is failing to respond, see Assistant Response Issues.

Message usage review checklist

  • I know which subscription is active.
  • I have confirmed my current message allowance.
  • I understand where to review usage or whom to contact for it.
  • I have checked the relevant usage-period dates.
  • I have estimated demand for upcoming promotions or launches.
  • I understand that conversation counts and message counts are different.
  • I have verified what happens when my allowance is reached.
  • I know how to review plan-change options if my needs grow.

Next steps

The best message allowance is one that supports valuable conversations with your audience and leaves enough capacity for the activity you expect.
